Omega Chemical Corp was a recycling company that was in buisness from 1976-1991, located in Whittier California... Also the reason why Skateland closed. The Omega Chemical Corp industry produced way too much air pollution that caused patrons to discredit Skateland. Because of the inappropiate handling of the waste in their factory, the waste seeped into the soil and contaminated. People started to cleanup this hazardeous site in 1995. Now, this area bears the name "Omega Chemical Superfund Site."

Federal officials announced Thursday they are proposing that a former waste treatment and storage facility be added to the Superfund list of sites considered a threat to public health. Omega Chemical Corp. on East Whittier Boulevard would become the 16th Superfund site in the Los Angeles region, said Lois Grunwald, a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency spokeswoman. Both the soil and ground water at the Omega site are contaminated with potentially cancer-causing substances, Grunwald said.
